XVIII Iberian Congress of Entomology

This conference is a regular meeting jointly organized by the Spanish and Portuguese associations of Entomology. It took place in Madrid from 10-13 July 2019 and was attended by Sónia Ferreira, where she presented an oral communication entitled “DNA metabarcoding and the biodiversity in the Mediterranean Basin” and two posters.

The participation to this event was a great opportunity for establishing contacts that allow to gather and organize data in the insect reference collection that is being built at CIBIO-InBIO (the InBIO Barcoding Initiative). Sónia has discussed ideas and possible collaborations with some of the 160 participants mostly from Iberian Peninsula.
