EnvMetaGen / EBI Metagenomics Spring School
EnvMetaGen organized, together with the European Bioinformatics Institute and the University of Porto, a 3-days spring school last month, and we are proud of providing this training to the metagenomics community.
This was our 2nd summer academy, one of the outputs of the project, and aiming to address challenges in environmental metagenomics, and its application to ecological and environmental science. More information on the program is available here.
Overall, feedback was very positive, concerning both the content of the training and the organization. The students were satisfied with the content of each session, and would recommend the course to others although Biostudies and Array Express were somewhat less appreciated than the other modules. Overall, this training seems to have been useful, as most of the modules were either unknown or not frequently used by the students, but were considered an added-value for future work.
We were only able to accept 32 of the 75 applications we received, all from either MSc/PhD students or researchers from academic institutions. For that reason, and because feedback was so positive, we are aiming to organize a 2nd edition of this event in Lisbon, in a few months. Stay tuned!!
