XVII Congresso Ibérico de Entomologia, Lisbon, Portugal, September 2016

From the  5^th to the 8^th of September 2016 Sónia Ferreira, a post-doc in our team, has participated to the XVII Congresso Ibérico de Entomologia. This event was organized by the Portuguese and the Spanish Societies of Entomology (SPEN & AeE) and the national laboratory of civil engineering (LNEC) and took place in Lisbon. Sónia made an oral presentation entitled “InBIO Barcoding Initiative: moth reference database using Next Generation Sequencing”.

This event was an opportunity to present our work in developing a reference collection of insect DNA barcodes, mainly from Portugal and Spain, and in that way spike the interest of Portuguese and Spanish researchers for collaborating to this initiative. Sónia’s talk was well received and generated interest for the initiative among the researchers present either from potential data providers but also other stakeholders.
